Growing International Jobs in Georgia
Welcome to the Georgia Workforce Development Initiative (GWI)
A Public-Private Partnership with Win/Win Potential
“We believe that both the public and private sectors must help citizens and workers elevate their skills to meet the needs of the changing job market.”
-Peter Robinson, President, United States Center for International Business.
The goal is to ensure that future graduates of Georgia’s public high schools, technical colleges and universities have the skills and experiences necessary to not only work for our international business partners but help them help them compete and succeed on a global stage.
Business Participation is Key
The success of GWI depends on the active participation of Georgia’s international business community. In addition to helping identify specific skill sets that need to be addressed in the classroom, there are a number of ways businesses can partner with GWI to help build a stronger local workforce.
- Supply non-confidential training materials, tests and certification programs that can be used in the classroom to ensure potential future applicants meet job requirements.
- Sponsor work-based learning projects, cultural experiences and postsecondary-level internships to further expose students to the culture and expectations of a global business.
- Provide financial support to GWI in order to help ensure the long-term success of the program.
